Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience where adventures in the great outdoors develop a love of service, boost your leadership skills, and create memories of a lifetime.
Dear Scouters and Friends of Scouting:
I am pleased to announce that I will be the Interim Scout Executive for the Choctaw Area Council. We were thankful to have James Hulgan serve as our last Scout Executive and certainly wish him the best in Indiana with his new assignment. You all know that Choctaw is more of a home than any other place that I have served Scouting because of the 16 years I spent here and raised my children in Meridian. My mission is the same in the Andrew Jackson Council as it was in the CAC and will be today moving forward. Keep the main thing the main thing. The main thing is serving youth in the Scouting program. Our mission is to grow Scouting by making sure those who want to join will have an opportunity to join and participate in the longest-running youth organization in our country. We can do this by working together to provide opportunities to join strong programs and be financially sound, with enough employees to support the volunteer leadership.
I am always available if you need to ask a question or have a concern. Most of you still have my contact information, but if you do not, please feel free to put it in your contacts. I look forward to providing you with the service that you deserve, even if there is the word Interim in front of the title.
Sincerely in Scouting,
Kenneth P. Kercheval
Interim Scout Executive Choctaw Area Council

The next National Jamboree will be held at Summit Bechtel Reserve from July 22-31, 2026.
What’s a Jamboree? It’s not camp. National Jamboree is 360 degrees of fun, friends, and fellowship with a hands-on adventure that takes you places you never thought you’d go and challenges you to try things you never thought you could.
Jamboree is more than a destination. It’s the adventure of a lifetime. And there is simply nothing else like it on the planet.
We’re making preparations. Don’t miss out!

For over a century, Camp Binachi has served as the Choctaw Area Council's Scout Camp. Join us for the joy and beauty of the great outdoors!

Binachi Shooting Sports is one of east-central Mississippi's premier shotgun and archery courses. Available for public and corporate use is a 12-stand sporting clay course, a five-stand skeet overlay, and an extensive field and 3D archery course.

Ashwanchi Kinta Lodge was chartered in 1941 in the Choctaw Area Council (#302) in Meridian, Mississippi. The Ashwanchi Kinta Lodge totem is a Beaver. We are currently part of Section E4. Our primary focus is supporting the Council's camping program and the camp itself, Camp Binachi.

The Camp Binachi Shoe, made from repurposed tent canvas, embodies Scouting’s legacy—rugged, storied, and sustainable. Each scuff tells tales of adventure, resilience, and camaraderie.
